Our business has been putting IT into schools for over twenty years. Now that many schools are going BYOD, it leaves parents with the decision of which device to buy their children, rather than the IT Manager, Business Manager or Principal.
After running BYOD portals for the last few years, the one issue we've heard countless times is challenges with retail grade hardware and back-to-base warranties. If you buy a laptop from a retailer, it's not commerical grade equipment and the warranty isn't either.
Back-to-base warranties make retail-grade computers an expensive BYOD mistake.
