New teaching features in Apple 2.0 Classroom

Apple recently launched the 2.0 version of Classroom and I would like to share with you some great new features. (Classroom is a powerful teaching app for classrooms of iPads helping a teacher guide students through a lesson, see their progress and keep them on track.)

One highlight is, that Classroom 2.0 adds the ability to create classes within the app and invite nearby students. That means that you no longer require a Mobile Device Management setup to configure classes, making it easier for teacher to use it without IT assistance.

Furthermore, it offers new ways for teachers and students to share content with each other. Teachers can now interact and control multiple devices simultaneously.

Classroom 2.0 – New features:

  • No need for an MDM solution anymore, you can now create unmanaged classes
  • Teachers can manually create classes within Classroom and invite nearby students to join
  • Share documents and links to student devices faster via AirDrop
  • Students can share documents and links with their teacher via AirDrop
  • Mute audio on student devices

Teachers will also appreciate new tools like remote device control (teacher can launch apps, websites, and iBooks on one or more iPads simultaneously), glance at any screen with the Screen View features and project student work on a local Apple TV. Apple Classroom 2.0 is a great tool to support and grow collaborative learning in schools.
